Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford scored two goals in two minutes to secure a 2-1 win for against CSKA Moscow at Old Trafford. Chelsea finished runners-up, behind AS Roma, in their group after they could only manage a draw against Atletico Madrid Stamford Bridge courtesy of a Stefan Savic own goal.
Manchester United 2 – 1 CSKA Moscow
Manchester United entered the last 16 of the Champions League as winners of Group A after registering a 2-1 win over CSKA Moscow at Old Trafford. Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford secured the win for Jose Mourinho’s side after CSKA had taken the lead through Alan Dzagoev late in the first half.
The Moscow team got the lead in controversial fashion, in the 45th minute, when Vitinho’s shot was diverted into the net by Alan Dzagoev. United’s defenders claimed he was offside, but replays suggested the officials made the right decision which helped the Russian team open their goal tally.
However, Lukaku and Rashford secured the top spot for the United side in the second half as they both made the most of two sublime passes from Paul Pogba and Juan Mata in the space of two minutes.
