Cabinet okays new bar policy

Vijayawada: The Cabinet on Thursday approved the bars policy and decided to renew licences. New bars can get five-year licences online; the licence fee will increase by 10 per cent every year. The Cabinet gave approval for 85 new bars in municipal corporations.

The cabinet approved IIB licences for star hotels and tourism centres except for spiritual tourist centres. It also approved micro breweries.

The Cabinet directed the excise department to increase IIB licence fee and registration charges as the current 25 per cent is felt to be less.

The government also approved the setting up of the Railway Infrastructure Development Corporation, a joint venture with Indian Railways. The corporation will lay new tracks and build stations.

The Cabinet ratified the MoU on the partnership with Singapore for institutional and economic development of AP and master development of start-up area in Amaravati City.
