The Gorkha Janmukti Morcha(GJM) has called for an indefinite shutdown after police raided the party’s office even as the strike call entered the fourth day today.
Darjeeling’s top cop Akhilesh Chaturvedi said he had received information that GJM was gathering arms to attack the police, so the security forces conducted raids in several places.

The police recovered arms, arrows and cash from the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha office.
Denying any wrongdoing, GJM leader Binay Tamang said, “We are tribals, about to hold our traditional archery competition. They showed our traditional equipment as weapons.”
Binay Tamang, assistant general secretary, GJM said: “That’s why we need Gorkhaland, our rights, culture, heritage, traditions, nothing is respected.”
Angry Gorkha Janmukti Morcha workers immediately began protests against the police raid at their office in Darjeeling.
